Job title: Assistant Dean of Student Health Services-Student Affairs - Bunker Hill Community College

Reporting to the Senior Student Affairs Educator/Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean is a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership team. The Assistant Dean is responsible for the management and oversight of all activities related to student health services, including but not limited to in-person student health services, student immunization protocols and compliance processes, health and wellness education, and activities required by the COVID-19 public health emergency and other similar public health situations. Position requires on-site and remote work, and occasional evening and weekend duties.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Implement an effective and timely immunization process for all full-time students as required by Massachusetts law, including health students.

  • Oversee contract with external vendor if needed (currently Castlebranch).

  • Create and oversee the process of obtaining vaccination records from students, and review such documents for validity and compliance.

  • Develop and maintain a system for health clearance records, monitor requirements and provide follow-up guidance.

  • Deliver annual immunization reports to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in collaboration with Academic Records, Information Technology and other relevant offices.

  • Assist the Athletic Department with review of medical records for athletes to ensure NJCAA eligibility compliance.

  • Supervise the Coordinator of Health Services (MCCC unit professional position) and Clerk V (AFSCME unit position)

  • Ensure that in-person health services are delivered in a competent and confidential manner, including the need for HIPPA and FERPA record-keeping.

  • Ensure that the Coordinator reviews all student records prior to uploading to external vendor, and that special attention is paid to students in health programs.

  • Supervise testing or vaccine clinic for COVID-19.

  • Provide leadership on the design and implementation of a health and wellness education program for students with the Counselor for Prevention and Wellness; solicit partnership with other College offices and constituents as appropriate.

  • Serve as the single point of contact for various aspects of the COVID-19 public health emergency and other similar public health situation.

  • Act as the BHCC liaison with the Boston Public Health Commission and Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

  • For the COVID-19 public health emergency, manage the testing process for students BHCC and collaborate with Human Resources in the testing of employees. In coordination with external vendor. Ensure adequate staff to support testing, and ensure staff are trained in all aspects of the testing process.

  • Develop and implement an immunization protocol to support full vaccination of the student body.

  • Review at the first level student requests by students who are unable to be vaccinated and who seek an accommodation.

  • Perform contact tracing as necessary.

  • Serve as an advisor to the Behavioral Intervention team for matters related to COVID-19.

  • Network with colleagues in other IHE's to stay abreast of current activities and look for opportunities for partnership.

  • Remain current on all local, state, national and international health advisories and provide College administration with recommendations on proper responses to current and future public health situations.

  • Will be trained and oversee communication with MAEVEN, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts vaccination and testing information system.

  • Identify, implement and coordinate the use of electronic medical records with the Director of Student Counseling Center.




Job Requirements:


  • Master's degree in Nursing

  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of Massachusetts as an RN, or NP or MD

  • Direct healthcare experience of 5 + years

  • Direct experience with using electronic medical record systems

  • Supervisory experience of medical staff

  • Understanding and full compliance with all HIPPA regulations

  • Proven ability to work with a diverse student population

  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement solutions to complex problems

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle ambiguity

  • Experience making decisions based on collaboration

  • Focused ability to drive results and passion for follow-up

  • Previous experience with building processes and/or implementing workflows

  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to handle confidential/sensitive information


Preferred qualifications:



  • Experience in health care delivery/management in a higher education setting

  • Direct experience with HIPPA on a College Campus

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or M.D.




Additional Information:

Salary Range: $95,000.00-$105,000.00
