Within the Allied Health Department, which includes the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) courses, Patient Care Technician Program, and the Medical Assisting program, perform/ensure the following: Primarily responsible for instructional preparation and teaching of Allied Health courses including remote lectures and in person lab classes.
Specific Duties:
- Provide instruction to allied health students in the medical assisting program and/or the patient technician program which includes CNA courses.
- Evaluate student performance in the classroom (remote for Fall 2021) and in the lab setting for in person lab sessions.
- Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to promote students' critical thinking.
- Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives.
- Use new technologies in the classroom (in person and/or remote), as appropriate, to facilitate learning.
- Ensure safety in the laboratory at all times; immediately address any unsafe activity and report it to the instructor.
- Ensure proper handling of: chemical spills; clean-up of broken glassware; collection of chemical waste for disposal; and proper disposal of non-hazardous laboratory waste.
- Maintain OSHA compliance.
- Actively participate in on-going professional development.
- Maintain expertise and currency in the area of teaching responsibility.
- Comply with the duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in a health related field.
- Valid CNA certification in Massachusetts in good standing, an/oror related healthcare experience is required.
- Experience in outpatient setting preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate CNA and medical assisting clinical skills in lab.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
Additional Information:
Salary: $1,132.00 per credit hour.
